Always listen to the wisdom of your customers. And do it with love.
When customers share their needs and wants, it is time to listen. And this is especially true in the Black audience and the full diversity market. The biggest brands in bog box stores are now listening to the needs of the diversity market and spending millions of dollars in marketing to research to get information on how to reach us. Already being IN and a part of this community, I am always speaking to parents, students, church members, colleagues and especially our amazing Black women who simply ask, "When Is somebody going to do x,y,z, or etc, etc, etc? Black people particularly, are deeply creative culture. As Jay Z states, "We ARE culture." And, with a tremendous spending power. But our needs must be met in a way and manner that WE want to be seen and represented. That is what Magic Johnson calls, "common sense" -- to find out what people want, and let them have it in a clean, honest and quality manner.
That is what Dream I Am is growing to do: Present quality new items that represent us in an honest way, and with lots of love. Love is the key. It is a corrupt intent to believe that products view little thought to quality can be sold to people who know what quality is, because love can be felt in the very intention of how you have presented that product.
We love our children. We love our customers. So we have taken time to develop books and items that reflect our love. And it is our very hope, that you will love us back!
